Install WordPress On A Bluehost Domain

This instruction details the steps necessary to install the latest version of WordPress, with the default template, on a Bluehost domain.  Bluehost is a full-featured web hosting service and includes a variety of services, including professional installation and maintenance, but basic installation is simple enough for even a novice user to accomplish easily.

Follow the steps below to install WordPress on your Bluehost domain:

1. Log in to your Bluehost account.  The dashboard page opens.

The dashboard interface provides access to the many features and administrative functions Bluehost offers.

2. From the Website panel, select Install WordPress.  The Install page opens.

3. Click the Domain field.

4. Select the desired domain from the dropdown menu.

5. Select the WordPress install directory.  The field is blank by default, which installs WordPress in the root directory.

Note:  Installing WordPress to the root directory is recommended.  Installing to a subdirectory can result in domain name resolution problems later.

6. Click Next.  The Admin Information Page opens.

The Admin Information page is prefilled with a default site name and admin username, email address, and password.  Default values can be changed here.

Note:  Keep the generated admin password, which is preconfigured to meet Bluehost and WordPress password security requirements.

7. Change the default site name to something relevant and easy to remember.  This name will appear in the dashboard when creating content or performing admin functions, and is particularly useful in differentiating multiple domains.

The site name does not affect the domain name, which appears in the URL.

8. Click Next to begin the installation.

An installation message and the Overall Site Progress Bar display at the top of the page.  The progress bar is discussed in detail below.

The message updates when the installation is complete.

WordPress is now installed on the domain, with the default template.

The next module of instruction will cover steps for logging in to the WordPress admin dashboard, changing and customizing the default theme, and making the site available online.
